It’s not September 11.


- a post about how the downturn in tourism in Australia that everyone here seems to chalk up to reduced worldwide travel after September 11 has most likely nothing to do with fear of air travel, and everything to do with not having had an Olympics more recently, and with disappointing experiences bought by foreigners; talk also about the general lack of expertise in the hospitality industry here

[NB: I really could go on at great length about this subject, especially as a compare 'n contrast piece with New Zealand, where they really do Get It as opposed to Australia. For example, just today, Dan was charged a cancellation fee for cancelling a hotel booking a week in advance. Come on! That's absurd.]
