Bonus geek points: the marriage was reported in the last paper edition of Micronews, the Microsoft employee newsletter, along with a lesbian couple that I never did meet. Our managers - in Commerce Server and Windows Mobile, respectively - both gave us the day off to drive down to Portland, Oregon to get married, which was swell, as was returning to a bunch of happy coworkers who were thrilled that we were able to get married.
Interestingly, when Steve Ballmer did something incredibly stupid the next month (and that was truly stupid for Ballmer, which means it's extra-stupid with a side order of stupid sauce), those same coworkers (and tens of thousands more across campus) stood up and complained loudly; there were internal petitions that were sent to Ballmer, who eventually changed his mind and supported the gay rights legislation in question, which Ed Murray was able to pass the next year.
Anyhow! Happy Anniversary, thanks to everyone who's protesting tonight in LA, SD, and elsewhere, good luck with that anti-DOMA lawsuit filed yesterday, and so on and so forth. Me, I'm going back to work for now. :)
