Dear Lazyweb: SQL Server 2005

OK, I'm stumped. I'm no SQL genius, so I'm not sure why this code works:

EXEC [REMOTE_SERVER_NAME].[master]..[xp_fixeddrives]

but this code doesn't work:

INSERT INTO [LocalTable] (DriveName, FreeSpace) EXEC [REMOTE_SERVER_NAME].[master]..[xp_fixeddrives]

Setup is this: one local SQL Server, one remote SQL Server, both 2005. They're both set up to link to each other, DTC is working with mutual authentication required, Dtcping.exe shows no problems, both servers can successfully test each other as linked servers.

However, that 2nd line of code doesn't work (running a sproc on the linked server and inserting the returned values into a local table) unless I disable mutual auth, which is obviously not really something I want to do.

Any ideas? TIA!
