Dan Savage: Obama Confronts African American Crowd on Gay Rights

Andrew Sullivan: The Urgent, Clear Choice For Gay Voters: Obama

My take on this: I have great respect for anyone who stands up for the rights of any minority - but I have even greater respect for anyone who will do so when addressing a hostile unsympathetic indifferent crowd. It's one thing to tell gay audiences that you support them, but it's quite another thing to do so when addressing an African-American audience that isn't quite as sold on the idea.

Color me very, very impressed.
