Hotmail: SRSLY WTF

Last summer, I decided to finally give up on Hotmail [or Windows Live Mail, or whatever they were calling it at the time] and move to Gmail. Naturally, I left the Hotmail account open just in case someone tried to contact me at the old address.

It went down early yesterday morning. It's not quite back up yet. It's totally unreliable AND you still can't get at it with IMAP or POP or, well, anything other than some Byzantine DAV-based thingy that requires you pay extra and have a subscription. It sucks, hard. Why do people still stick with it? [And don't even get me started on folks still using AOL mail in 2008 - that's even worse.]
