Shot for shot remakes: bake 2

So... I watched Michael Haneke's Funny Games tonight. Dan went upstairs to the office after about half an hour - it was that hard to watch. But I stuck with it... ugh. Not fun.

Anyhow, I'm semi-delighted to see that Michael Haneke, the director, has completed a shot for shot remake of his own film with Tim Roth, Naomi Watts, and that dude from Last Days. I'm definitely interested, especially as for some reason I was fascinated by Gus van Sant's decision to do a shot for shot remake of Psycho. Mind you, that one didn't turn out so well (thanks largely to a horrible performance by Anne Heche), but who knows? I'm always fascinated by these sorts of experiments.

Does anyone happen to know of a good list of these sorts of experiments? You know, like Georges Sluizer remaking his own The Vanishing in English years after the original Dutch version? I have a sneaking suspicion these things don't happen too often, but a comprehensive list would be very interesting to me...
