We'll actually be celebrating our fourteenth anniversary next year, but we had to get this done today as part of the ongoing house buying process. Thankfully, owning a house is going to be easier in case of death or other catastrophe in the future because we'll now own our house as state registered domestic partners' community property with right of survivorship, which is awesome. On the other hand, thanks to Bill Clinton and the DOMA, filing taxes next year is going to be a frickin' nightmare as we'll have to do federal taxes twice: once as individuals, and once as if we were married, so that our CA state income taxes can be figured as if we were married instead of well, whatever you say. Domestically partnered?
Champagne may be sent not to us, but to anyone whom you love and haven't seen enough of lately. Of course, if you'd rather send it to us, that's certainly more than welcome; I'm about to head across the street to Costco to see if I can get a rosé Champagne without spending too much money... :)
