Dear Lazyweb: Why no write access to automounted NFS shares?

I hate to admit it, but I am far from brilliant when it comes to UNIX stuff and I've only had my MacBook for a couple of days now.

Here's my problem:

1. This is a laptop, which means there is very little hard drive space.

2. Therefore, I bought a HP Media Vault, which is a NAS that runs Linux and supports NFS.

3. I used the NetInfo Manager to automount a NFS share from the NAS at boot time. This appears to work; the server volume shows up where I'd expect it on my hard drive.

4. However, privileges are such that I cannot copy things there, delete them, etc. I need to be able to do this because I was hoping to set iTunes to use that as its home directory.

So... uh, what am I doing wrong? I tried stuff like adding "w" to the opts entry for the mount in NetInfo, but no device. Can't manually change privs either. Anyone know this stuff?
