I'm sitting here listening to excerpts from the new Severed Heads album, getting goosebumps. I really like this stuff, unlike the wine I just opened - a d'Arenberg riesling. You know what? I've now tried at least five (Riesling, Noble Riesling, Shiraz, Chambourcin, Original) of their wines and, well, I don't like 'em. Too bad - beautiful packaging.

My day seems fairly well set now. Stopped by Ticketek in the morning to get Mardi Gras tickets - success! Meanwhile, back at the postbox, picked up the NRMA green slip I'll need to register the car next week - success! Dan and Neville are up at the beach for the day, so I just need to figure out what to do with myself for a few hours - lunch is sounding good, but I don't really feel like a big meal. I'm meeting up with some folks I've never actually met before on Oxford St later this afternoon, and I suppose I'll wind up at the bears' pool party after that, but I don't know for sure. Probably a good idea to bring along my backpack...

I've also spread out the big map of Australia and am going over it with flourescent markers and black ballpoint, trying to pin down the general plan for the year. So far, so good, although it seems like the schedule is interrupted by too much time between Tassie and the start of June, but that's OK. I'm also going to push for less time in Queensland at the end of June, to be replaced by outback 4WD driving en route to Alice Springs. Dan will hopefully agree...

OK, time to call the folks at Yulara and see about hotel rooms... over and out!
