On leaving

I gave notice shortly after getting to work at 9 AM. By 9:15 AM, I already experienced a very uncomfortable talk with my boss (something about how it was important that all of my vacation time be accounted for, because I may owe her a few days' worth of pay, something about how I pay no attention to detail, and something about how, well, I've forgotten that already because I wasn't paying attention to detail, I reckon).

Anyhow, it's done. Six more days in the office and then I board a plane to Los Angeles and proceed to get on with my life.

This quote from David Mamet struck me as particularly relevant:

"Strive to end the circus on the quadruple somersault, not with the farting elephant."

I'm trying my best but to be honest I think I'm stuck with the elephant for the next ten days.
