Goodbye to the Social

Mercer Street, Seattle, 6 February 2007

They're tearing down all of the Zune billboards around Seattle. Yes, it's the end of the Christmas shopping season, but seeing this made me a little bit sad because the Zune turned out to be such a failure for Microsoft. It's not a bad product, really, it's just that they're only about six years too late to market with it.

[Apologies for the crappy picture, but my $10 cell phone doesn't take great pictures (and yes, my windshield is dirty; Seattle's low level rain combined with endless cement trucks gives it a nice brown patina nearly year-round).]

In other news, I installed the Zune desktop theme under XP, and now that I've upgraded to Vista, it won't uninstall, repair itself, or function. Yay Zune.

bconn - you've got a brown Zune to get rid of, right? Perhaps we can come to some kind of arrangement?
