I have a good friend with an international affairs/human rights background who is considering moving here from NYC. I was wondering if anyone here might have some ideas for people she should talk to when she is here visiting and interviewing in a few weeks.Needless to say, I almost replied immediately with a one word idea:
"My degree is in international affairs and I concentrated on human rights. I would love to work on women's rights, reproductive rights, refugee or immigrant rights, trafficking, international development, or poverty alleviation -- most likely in program management and/or policy analysis. So in Seattle I have two meetings at the Gates Foundation, one with the International Rescue Committee, a bunch with some other foundations, with some other alumni from my school who've done legislative work, one who runs her own nonprofit, some with activists. I’m throwing the net very wide on this one and am leaving no stone unturned!"
Little r me with ideas if you have any.
