Still good after all these years.

I finally got around to watching a DVD of a Soft Cell concert in Milan, 2001. And, much to my surprise, it was good.

I have a dirty little secret to confess: I'm a Marc Almond fan. I know, that's probably kinda surprising coming from me... but it's true. I started collecting Soft Cell records in junior high school, and it never stopped. Sure, I was never able to track down a copy of his first solo EP, and I never did find a copy of the Some Bizarre LP on CD, and I sold my Marc 10" EPs a long long time ago, but my taste for his music never seemed to flag. I may no longer own a copy of the Annie Hogan EP; however, I never did sell the CD of This Last Night... In Sodom I picked up in tenth grade.

It's not often these days I go back and listen to that stuff, but man, it's still better than most stuff I remember from that era. I don't know why, but hearing Marc sing a song like Little Rough Rhinestone still moves me, somehow. Go figure. You'd think I'd have outgrown it, but it still holds up, even the sillier stuff like Martin.

OK, off to bed. Dan's going backpacking tomorrow; me, I'm going back in to the office to finish up some stuff; then, it's off to Japanese barbecue, a movie with friends, and then maybe out to the Cuff.

Remember when I wrote a lot on LiveJournal? Yeah, me neither.
