It's official. Levi's 501 jeans are no more.

I just got off the phone with the friendly folks at Levi Strauss.

Long story short, shrink-to-fit button-fly 501s are no more. Instead, Levi Strauss have started to sell a new line of jeans branded as Levi's shrink-to-fit button-fly 501s, but they have been redesigned. Significantly redesigned. They're much bigger than they used to be, especially in the thighs. They now have more beltloops - and they're attached to the seam, not to the fabric itself. They've also changed the stitching on the back pockets.

I'll have to home and do a more exhaustive comparison... still, this sucks. Time to start shopping for old production 501s - at least you can tell if they're the real ones by the number of belt loops they have. If anyone sees 38x34s with 5, not 7 belt loops...

[BCD] Netherbears.

Achtung! Flash! Turnen downen the volume at work!

The Netherbears will be meeting at Le Shako Sunday night in Amsterdam, at 5 pm. I've been to Le Shako before - with Mike Ramsey - six years ago. It's a tiny, tiny place, nothing like a 'normal' bar in Amsterdam.

T minus 16 and counting.

That's right - only 16 more work days until I get on a plane to Amsterdam. Believe you me, it can't come soon enough: I'm nearing that pleasantly exhausted state any day now. We're almost done, we're about to ship, it's all about wrapping up loose ends at this point.

This will be the second time I've travelled with friends: Brian and Chris and Chris and Dan will experience all kinds of wacky adventures together, from Brian shopping for obscure French alcohol, to Chris and Chris trying to find mescaline, to... well, who knows what else?

My gift to you for the day:

Here's hoping our second group trip to Europe will be even better!
