Life's little pleasures.

The mail just came, and there was a thank you note form Dan's grandmother Virginia. There's something about handwritten thank you notes, I guess; it's even better when they've been addressed according to very strict convention á la Emily Post. She thanked us for coming down to the family Thanksgiving dinner two weeks ago and for the pictures she'd looked at on the laptop - pretty funny. And I have to admit there's something great about feeling so welcome in your partner's family. In fact, it reminds me of the last Thanksgiving I was able to share with my grandmother Bernice, who took Dan and me aside after dinner and let us know in no uncertain terms how happy she was that we'd found each other, and how much she liked Dan.

Yay for cool relatives!
