Getting there.

Well, four out of five tracks have now been dealt with. Still haven't found the "classical track" [couldn't find my Michael Nyman Band CD; don't have many other selections to choose from] though. So, for now, it's just these four tracks:

Strength in Numbers, Duke and Cookie
Steely Dan, Janie Runaway
Beck, Mixed Bizness
The Soft Pink Truth, Promofunk

Here's a sample of the file sizes:

Steely Dan, Janie Runaway [at Dan and Dan's insistence; Dan M sez Peg isn't a good recording, and Dan B sez he can't take twenty minutes of Peg]

WAV 45.6 MB [uncompressed]
AAC 3.8 MB [iTunes; 128 Kbps]
MP3 5.7 MB [iTunes; 160 Kbps]
WMA 1.9 MB [Windows Media Player 9, 64 Kbps]
WMA VBR 3.8 MB [Windows Media Player 9 variable bit rate, average 128 Kbps, this file 150 Kbps]

I haven't heard this stuff yet; even if I had, this is a blind test, so it's going to be up to you to pick out the differences. I should be able to mail out the CDs next week or so. Thanks to the six of you who volunteered to listen and rate the CDs. If anyone else wants to join this particular geekfest, please don't hesitate to ask!
