Books.

I'm currently in the middle of Spaceland, one of Rudy Rucker's two novels that he published while I was in Australia. And, get this, he's actually posted notes on how it was written to his Web site - wow. I always thought that was one of the coolest things an artist could do: publish a kind of how-to, something that explained how it was they came up with what you're reading or listening to. Back in 1986, I remember sending some cash to a post office box in Darlinghurst, New South Wales, to get a Xeroxed booklet that explained how Severed Heads came to record City Slab Horror - I still have the booklet, and it's still compelling reading that makes the album even more interesting that it was before.

Yay for Rucker, and for Mark Miller for giving me a copy of The Hacker and the Ants all those years ago.
