Saw a couple of movies this week:
My Big Fat Greek Wedding - no wonder this was so popular. A fluffy trifle, but fun enough. Weird trivia: the music was co-written by Xandy Janko, my high school band nemesis (we were both piano players, and often dueled for parts. He was better, but I was more popular. Thpppt).
Heaven - absolutely beautiful. Interesting camera moves. I can't wait to see this again.
Road to Perdition - to paraphase Roger Ebert, I hated, hated, HATED this movie. Like a $100 Napa cabernet, this was proof that you can make something that is technically perfect, with beautiful lighting, sound, production, and so on, and provide something with the emotional warmth of a clothespin. This movie is the filmic equivalent of a lack of terroir. I will stop now so as to avoid further ridiculous pretense.
